RICS once again calls on the government to take action on empty property rates (EPR) as the TaxPayers’ Alliance announce alarming figures. Last November RICS published results of research from our expert members into the effect of business rates on empty property: 92% viewed EPR as a barrier to town centre regeneration 89% of members felt the policy was restrictive to overall economic growth 88% considered EPR a significant deterrent for speculative building.
